Proper
Packaging
1. Use a structurally sound carton. 2. Objects like sectional candelabras, should be disassembled and wrapped individually with tissue paper or in a flannel bag(s). 3. For delicate pieces (such as handled baskets), crumple tissue or bubble wrap and place it in all open areas so all components will be supported. If you need to use tape, please use narrow Scotch tape or painter's tape as opposed to wide packing tape. Packing tape forces me cut open the packaging with a blade as opposed to a pair of scissors. 4. Always remove flatware from a flatware chest and wrap the pieces, otherwise, any bouncing in transit could lead to scratching. 5. Each piece with exception of bundled flatware and jewelry should have a minimum of 2" of padding between it and other piece(s) and the sides of the carton 6. The carton should be filled with Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, or densely crumpled paper (more ecologically sound) to snugly cushion the item(s). Please don't use shredded paper as it will produce plumes of very fine dust that will contaminate my workshop. Should you prefer Styrofoam over other materials, make certain to compress it into the carton, for not doing so will allow the peanuts to settle during transit. If the object(s) rattles in the box when you pick it up and shake it vigorously, you need more filler material! Please contact me with any questions. Note: Return shipments from me normally contain crumpled newsprint for easy recycling. Don't let this happen to you... |
